Starsky and Hutch: How does it end?

Warning, spoilers. The following article will reveal the main plot elements of “Starsky and Hutch” as well as its ending.

Starsky and Hutch are probably two of the most famous vigilantes on the small screen! The adventures of dark-haired New Yorker David Michael Starsky (Paul Michael Glazer), a bit naive and very extroverted, and his blonde sidekick, Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson (David Soule), more reserved and thoughtful, truly marked several generations. spectators.

With spread legs, giddiness, an unforgettable red Ford Torino, a hag with good advice (Antonio Fargas) and an angry Captain Dobby (Bernie Hamilton), the show became a real emblem of television, which, with its success, inspired a theatrical film and a video game.

Since the pilot film in April 1975, 4 seasons and 92 episodes have made Starsky and Hutch the legends they are today. Created by William Blinn, the series ran in France from June 1978 to December 1984 on TF1.

It will be the 21st episode of season 4, “That revenge is sweet” (“Sweet Revenge” VO), which will conclude the iconic ABC series on May 15, 1979. We will tell you.

In the first scene of this latest episode, we attend a meeting presided over by a certain Mr. Gunther and his assistant Mr. Bates. The former is feared by all involved, to whom he reveals his plan: to eliminate the two individuals responsible for the damage caused to his organization… Starsky and Hutch.

In the repainted police station room, Starsky and Hutch, meanwhile, play ping pong and challenge each other to guess country song titles. Captain Dobby arrives to interrupt them, but that doesn’t stop Starsky from winning the game.

In the station parking lot, Starsky and Hutch joke and laugh, but as Starsky is about to get into his car, Hutch’s attention is drawn to the screeching of metal as a police car crashes into another. Hutch, on the other side of their car, can only warn Starsky, who doesn’t have time to grab his gun. Hutch unsuccessfully fired at the fleeing vehicle.

But the damage has already been done. Starsky is lying on his side with three gunshot wounds to his back. Hutch is shocked.

At the hospital, Hutch, Hug, and Dobby wait for news of Starsky, who will soon come out of surgery. Severely injured, he is in stable condition but is in a coma and is tied to multiple vehicles.

At his friend’s bedside, Hutch examines all the devices that help Starsky survive and seems lost without his other half. Everyone is afraid of losing him.

Hutch is determined to find the culprit, and Hug investigates with him. But the detective struggles and gradually loses hope. He hits the wall a few times: he’s almost beaten by an impostor, then the other assassins slash him on the wrist, but he keeps going.

Later, Starsky goes into cardiac arrest and has to be defibrillated. Hutch defies the laws of physics to get back to his partner in time, and surprisingly, Starsky’s heart starts beating again when Hutch pushes open the hospital doors: a miracle.

From this moment on, Hutch is revived. He discovers that James Gunther is the man behind the trouble. He is a powerful person, at the head of political and financial organizations, who therefore wants the two policemen dead more than anything.

His new goal: take down Gunter, and the investigation continues even further. Doing computer research, Hutch learns a lot about Gunther Industries and some of its shadowy companies. He is happy that he is finally on the right track.

Starsky finally arrives, much to the delight of Hutch, who hugs the nurse tending to his partner.

Hutch finally confronts his nemesis and storms into Gunther’s office, determined to take him down. The latter quickly threatens him with a gun in his hand, but Hutch manages to stop the criminal: he grabs him, handcuffs him and tells him his rights.

The final scene of the show perfectly captures the spirit of friendship and humor for the series. Hutch cautiously joins Starsky in his hospital room with a dish in hand: veal stuffing. The two accomplices are drunk on the bed, Hutch after who knows how many beers and Starsky after four analgesics.

Hug and Dobby also join Starsky’s bed with even more food in hand to share a moment of complicity. They all celebrate victory – and survival – at the Last Supper, drinking and laughing with joy.

For atmosphere, Hagi even brought in a lantern that he hangs from an automatic launcher hanging from the ceiling of the room… which ends up being activated by the gravity of the object! Then the water starts spraying them and the friends get wet! The end of Starsky and Hutch.
