Netflix has released the first trailer for the comedy They Cloned Tyrone, starring John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) and Jamie Foxx (“The Double Trip”). Available on Tudum, the preview highlights the film’s mix of genres, which combines science fiction, action and comedy with the style of 1970s blaxploitation cinema.
In the plot, Boyega plays Fontaine, a drug dealer who somehow survives after being shot by his rival. Together with Yo-Yo (Teyonah Parris, “WandaVision”) and pimp Slick Charles (Foxx), she discovers that his neighborhood is the subject of experiments conducted by a mysterious organization that is trying to clone the black population.
“They Cloned Tyrone” is directed by Juel Taylor (writer of “Creed II”), who also wrote the script with Tony Rettenmaier (“Space Jam 2: A New Legacy”), and also stars J. Alphonse Nicholson ( “P- Valley”), Joshua Mikel (“50 States of Fright”) and Tamberla Perry (“Bosch”).
The first is scheduled for December 30th.
