Netflix has released a new video for season 2 of “Shadow and Bones”, which presents in more detail the look of the new characters seen in the teaser shown on Tudum. They are portrayed by Lewis Tan (“Mortal Kombat”), Anna Leong Brophy (“Traces”), Patrick Gibson (“The OA”) and teenager Jack Wolfe (“The Witcher”) – and will apparently have major plot importance. .
Based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling collection for young people known as Grishaverse, the second season will adapt the second book in the collection, “Sun and Storm”. The original trilogy is completed with “Ruin and Ascension”, but the plot still continues in new releases: “Six of Crows: Blood and Lies” (2016) and “Crooked Kingdom: Revenge and Redemption” (2017). All the books were published by Editora Gutenberg in Brazil.
The series was developed by Eric Heisserer, screenwriter of “Birdbox” (2018) and “Arrival” (2016), and takes place in a war-torn fantasy world, where orphaned cartographer Alina Starkov discovers extraordinary power: the gift of light. With the monstrous threat of Shadowbending lurking, Alina is separated from everything she knows to train and be part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. As she learns to control her powers, she realizes that allies and enemies aren’t all that different and that nothing in this world is as it seems. In addition, there are other moving pieces, including a group of very charismatic criminals, who have an important mission.
The lead role is played by debutant Jessie Mei Li, a young English actress with theater experience and who made her film debut in “Last Night in Soho”, which was released after the series – in November in Brazil.
The cast also highlights well-known Ben Barnes (from “The Punisher”, “Westworld” and “Chronicles of Narnia”), as well as Archie Renaux (“Hanna”), Freddy Carter (“Pennyworth”), Amita Suman (” The Outpost “).”), Kit Young (“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”) and Daisy Head (“Harlots”).
With no date set for the premiere, Season 2 is slated for 2023.
