Mark Johnson is also an executive producer and oversees the creation of Anne Rice’s television universe for AMC. Alan Taylor directed the first two episodes and also serves as executive producer.
“The scope and breadth of this series, and what Mark and Rolin have offered, are simply stunning,” said Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios. “They made the rich and vibrant world of Anne Rice’s ‘Interview’ in a wonderful way, and we are incredibly proud,” he said.
McDermott continued: “From the construction of the set, to the production design, to the costumes and more, not a single detail was overlooked. This stellar cast delivers powerful performances that connect us emotionally to these characters and their humanity. We can’t wait to share the final product of this extraordinary effort with the public in a few days and are thrilled that this story continues. This is just the beginning of a whole universe of captivating stories and characters that capture the spirit of Anne Rice’s incredible work. “
Showrunner Rolin Jones also commented on the renewal: “Bulgaria. Romania. Paris. (Ah Paris!) San Francisco. New Orleans. Dubai. The “Interview with the Vampire” writing team is honored, humbled and eager to add more stamps to our vampire passport books. All praise goes to our fearless network, we do our best not to ruin everything. “
This is not the first adaptation of the book of the same name published in 1976 by Anne Rice. The film “Interview with the Vampire” was released in 1994, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and was a success with audiences and critics, earning Oscar nominations.
The “Interview with the Vampire” series will debut on American AMC on October 2nd. The premiere of the production in Brazil has not yet been confirmed.
