Did Marilyn Monroe have children? Her pregnancies weren’t what they seemed on ‘Blonde’

After its premiere, ‘Blonde’ has been labeled as a misogynistic film by many netizens. Among his arguments, he singles out the pro-life vision that the Netflix production purports to present with the miscarriage experiences of Marilyn Monroe (played by Ana de Armas).

This aspect of the Hollywood diva’s motherhood has also made many wonder if Monroe ever actually became a mother.

  • Ana de Armas also stars in the movie ‘Hija de Dios’, which you can watch on ViX+, ViX’s premium streaming service.

Did Marilyn Monroe have children?

The “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” actress was married three times, but had no children from any of those marriages.

In this sense, Michelle Vogel, in her book “Marilyn Monroe: Her Films, Her Life”, warns that Marilyn really wanted to become a mother, but she never did.

“Marilyn loved children and desperately wanted to be a mother. Unfortunately, she never carried a baby to term.”

Despite having no children of her own, Monroe was able to live with many young ones. According to Donald Spoto, in his book “Marilyn Monroe: The Biography”, the actress repeatedly participated in children’s charities to spend time with them.

Was Marilyn Monroe pregnant? These were the abortions she suffered

The Netflix film features the actress suffering three miscarriages: one after her relationship with Charlie ‘Cash’ Chaplin Jr. and Eddie Robinson, Jr. (a romance with no real-life arguments). the second during her marriage to Arthur Miller (her third husband) and another during her alleged affair with John F. Kennedy.

According to biographer Michelle Vogel, Monroe was pregnant only three times during her marriage to Miller, but unfortunately none of those pregnancies went to term.

In 1956, Marilyn’s first known pregnancy ended in miscarriage. The following year, in 1957, Marilyn suffered an ectopic pregnancy (the egg attached to the outside of the uterus so the fetus did not survive).

Later in 1958, the actress became pregnant again while filming ‘Some Like It Hot’ but unfortunately suffered another miscarriage.

In this sense, Dr. Leon Krohn, the actress’ gynecologist, confirmed for Donald Spoto’s book that Marilyn had “two miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy that required an emergency termination.”

According to Vogel, Marilyn’s fertility problems “have long been attributed to endometriosis” (a condition in which the lining of the uterus grows in areas where it shouldn’t and can cause everything from pain and heavy bleeding to infertility).

Vogel also explains that Monroe’s use of pills and alcohol was probably a way the actress tried to cope with this situation.

“Monroe’s known use of pills and alcohol was likely self-medication to treat this medical condition, as well as countless other aspects of his complicated life.”
