After its release in late September, the German series L’Impératrice was a success, quickly reaching second place in the ratings behind Dahmer. Centered on the famous monarch, it chronicles her early years at court, following her meeting and marriage to François-Joseph.
Sissy is played on screen by the young Devrim Linnau, who breathes modernity into the character with her mischievous and cheeky gaze. Less sultry than the last adaptation offered by TF1, but more modern than Romy Schneider’s films, The Empress will appeal with its tone, cast and scenes, which viewers say brings it closer to Reign and The Crown:
Fans who especially appreciated The Empress are waiting for only one thing: for Netflix to renew it for a second season. This announcement is not relevant at this time, since it was presented as a mini-series. But given its success and open ending, anything is possible!
