Rings of Power: The Discrepancy was finally fixed in episode 7 of the Prime Video series

With its 7th episode, The Rings of Power corrects a bug that has been present since the beginning of the series: Where is Galadriel’s husband? In the world of Middle-earth, as established by JRR Tolkien, an elf has a husband, previously ignored by the show.

The revelation comes as she travels with Theo, Galadriel mentions the fact that she has lost loved ones fighting Sauron’s forces. She first quotes Finrod, her brother, who appears in the series as Will Fletcher, and then her “husband”, Celeborn:

We saw each other in the clearing. I was dancing, he saw me. (…) When he took the weapon, I scolded him because the armor did not fit. It was like a silver dish. I never saw him again.

Celeborn in the extended version of “The Fellowship of the Ring”.

The latter was not featured on the show, and fans wondered if she would be, given that she was not mentioned at all for six episodes. Knowing that the creators added secondary characters without Tolkien’s creation (like Isildur’s sister, for example), we can legitimately think that she was completely ignored.

The error is fixed and Galadriel has a husband as in the books, except the series took an unexpected direction. Indeed, fans of Tolkien’s lore know that Celeborn plays a crucial role in the War of the Ring, which is recounted in the author’s books. The character also appears in the Peter Jackson trilogy, played by Marton Tsokas. In other words, he cannot be dead.

Galadriel is careful not to utter the word, and is content to “I never saw him again”.

Elrond, Cereborn and Galadriel in The Return of the King

Peter Jackson had to cut the character’s scenes from The Two Towers due to lack of time, but he was definitely seen in The Fellowship of the Ring, and he appeared in the scene in The Return of the King where the elven ship leaves the gray havens. The existence of Galadriel, Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf and Elrond. The scene is also not in the books.

So the question isn’t “will we see him again?” But “when will we see him again?”, so the series along with the story of Lord of the Rings.
