After playing Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci, Adam Driver will step into the shoes of another Transalpine icon: Enzo Ferrari. Check out the first photos.
After playing Maurizio Gucci for Ridley Scott in Gucci House of Gucci, Adam Driver slips into the shoes of Enzo Ferrari in Cannes in a biopic directed by Michael Mann and written by Troy Kennedy Martin (The Italian Story).
The first photos of the American actor in a Ferrari have just been unveiled.
The action of the feature film takes place in the summer of 1957. Enzo Ferrari, a former racing driver, is in crisis. The company he and his wife, Laura (played by Penelope Cruz) built from scratch, is facing bankruptcy. Their tumultuous marriage struggles between grieving for one son and accepting the other. He decides to defy his losses by placing a bet on a race – a 1,000-mile ride on the iconic Mille Miglia in Italy.
Driver and Cruise will star opposite Shailene Woodley, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, Sarah Gadon and Gabrielle Leone.
Discussed by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman
A true Arlesian, the project is finally taking shape. Michael Mann has been working on this adaptation of the book for 20 years Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races By Brooke Yates.
In 2015, the title role of the film was to be played by Christian Bale, but the latter had to leave due to lack of time for preparation. Shelved, the project was revived two years later with Hugh Jackman as the lead, before Adam Driver was finally chosen to portray the Italian pilot and industrialist.
The release date has not been announced yet.
