Since 1986, there have been several animated features or medium-length films related to the Dragon Ball universe: The Legend of Shenron (1986), The Demon’s Castle (1987), The Mystical Adventure (1988), In pursuit of Garlic (1989), Ice Robot (1990), Fraternal Combat (Ident.), Menace of Namek (1991), Cooler’s Revenge (Ident.), One Hundred Thousand Metal Warriors (1992), Attack of the Cyborgs (1992), Crystal Super Warrior (1993), The Space Mercenaries ( id.), Dangerous Rivals (1994), Super Warrior Attack! Finally, there are also OAVs, including one about Vegeta’s brother.

Hacking and delayed release

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was originally scheduled for release on April 22, 2022 in Japan. The feature film was pushed back due to a hack that occurred on March 6 of that year at Toei Animation. In a press release transmitted and translated by Hitek, the production studio gave us some details:
As previously reported, Toei Animation, which is producing the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie scheduled for a Japanese release on Friday, April 22, 2022, has experienced unauthorized third-party access to its servers/network, making the release of the movie difficult.”
“Therefore, we have no choice but to postpone the release of the film. We apologize to everyone who has been eagerly awaiting the film’s release. We will announce a new date soon. Thank you for your understanding.”
First Dragon Ball experience

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is directed by Tetsuro Kodama. This is his first experience as the main director of a Dragon Ball feature film. He previously worked on the series Ganbare! Lulu Lolo – Tiny Twin Bears and Gen’ei ibunroku #FE video game. On the other hand, the script is always signed by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the manga.
A new transformation for Goku’s son!

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero introduces Son Gohan’s new ultra-powerful transformation: the “Son Gohan Beast,” which allows him to return to the forefront (we all remember his exploits in the fight against Cell in Dragn Ball Z). Akira Toriyama said:
“Gohan has had several transformations in the past, but this time he had to awaken completely new! He achieved his own unique evolution, based somewhat on the awakening he already experienced in his youth.”
“That’s why I called him the ‘Son Gohan Beast’. It refers to the fact that he awakened the wild beast in him. For his design, I first tried to draw him with a scary face and pale skin, but I didn’t think so. He looked too much like Gohan.”
“Instead, I went for something more classic, with the hair down. And to my surprise, it looks great. Everyone said, ‘That’s really cool.’
