We are Avengers: Endgame. Broadcast tonight on TF1, this final opus of the Infinity Saga, the true apotheosis of the battle between the Marvel heroes and the titan Thanos, ends with the latter’s defeat. Unfortunately, this victory will not be without the sacrifice of the Avengers.
Indeed, while Black Widow sacrificed her life on Vormir to retrieve the Soul Stone, it’s Tony Stark’s, aka Iron Man’s, turn to offer to defeat the Titan at the end of the feature film. Putting on the Infinity Gauntlet, he snaps his fingers to make his enemy disappear for good, knowing full well that such a gesture will not be in vain and will lead to his death.
So Tony Stark’s adventure ends at a moving funeral in Tony’s chalet. For the occasion, we find almost every hero that has ever populated the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to pay their last respects to Iron Man.
From Pepper Potts to Happy Hogan, Peter Parker, Captain America, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy, no one is missing, and Marvel fans will no doubt be able to name all kinds of guests. However, there is a young man isolated from the back of the crowd who you may not have recognized.
If this character’s face means nothing to you, it’s simply because his interpreter has grown a lot since the last time you saw him on screen. It really is Harley Keener. In Iron Man 3, played by Ty Simpkins, this little boy crossed paths with Tony Stark while the latter was staying in Tennessee after his house was destroyed.
After welcoming him to the barn, Harley helped Tony get back in the saddle and find his enemy. A meeting which seems to have left an indelible memory upon the young lad, who was therefore desirous of attending to salute the memory of his old friend.
