Ali and Hakim Bugeraba’s comedy Les SEGPA will be released this Wednesday, April 20th in our cinemas. The producer of the adapted film from the web series is Kirill Hanuna.
After 3 seasons on the internet, the Les SEGPA series is coming out on the big screen.
In the film, directed by Ali and Hakim Bugeraba, SEGPA (Adapted General and Vocational Education Departments) has been fired from their institution. To their surprise, they merge with the prestigious Franklin D. Roosevelt College.
The principal, who does not want to see his school’s reputation deteriorating, devises a scheme to dismiss them while retaining helpers. As they enjoy their new life, form friendships and become increasingly popular, SEGPA discovers the director’s project. Then they decide to do everything to disrupt his schemes …
Launched in 2016, the web series was a huge success on Youtube with 1.99 million subscribers, with some episodes even surpassing 10 million views.
Wear Iche Bougeraba (director’s brother), Walid Ben Amari, Ariel Amran, Abdel-Qader Biskri, Charles Niobe, Lassen Amari, Anthony Pineiro, Said Bogota, Gregory Di Meglio, Emma SmithKamil Lelouch, Musa Maaskri and Alban Ivanov, co-produced by the feature film Kirill Hanuna.
The producer and presenter has also released a comedy trailer exclusively on his show and on social media. But very quickly internet users noticed the poor representation of these difficult students, most of whom have already been ridiculed.
The author of the book Les Incasables, Rachid Zerouk, also responded quickly on his Twitter account. Also, the teacher who is responsible for the SEGPA classes, he points out the harm that the problematic adults in these classes may suffer.
He adds: “Our SEGPA students are marked by these bad jokes and these repetitive caricatures. Each of them is a simple wound to the ego, but their daily accumulation is a torment with incorruptible psychological consequences.. “
But this social comedy also shows the difficulty of escaping from the labels that others give us.
The feature film, which will be released in theaters this Wednesday, April 20, was shot in Marseille, where it was also released on April 13.
