And 5! A new spin-off in The World of The Walking Dead will be released in 2023 at AMC, this time focusing on sworn enemies, Negan and Maggie.
Although the eleventh and final season Walking Dead Broadcasts at AMC (and available in France at OCS), variety Reveals that the adventure will continue for two cult characters from the series: Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan).
The two survivors with a common past, to put it mildly (we all remember the brutal murder of Glenn, Maggie’s husband by Negan in Season 7) will indeed be the protagonists of a new series called Island of the Dead, which will take place in New York. The title island, which points to Manhattan, is now completely cut off from the rest of the metropolis.
In the six episodes that the show features, Negan and Maggie explore the city with zombies inhabiting the ruins, but also with residents who have turned New York into a place of perilous anarchy. This is Eli Jorne, screenwriter and executive producer of the parent series that will be the show-producers of this new series, which is scheduled to hit screens next year.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan have already expressed their excitement about the new project on social media.
Isle of the Dead will be The Walking Dead’s fifth spin-off of Fear the Walking Dead (recently updated for the eighth season), The Walking Dead: World Beyond (which ran for two seasons from 2020 to 2021), Tales of the Walking After the Dead. (An anthology that will debut this year) and a series dedicated to two other cult characters from the original show: Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carroll (Melissa McBride).
