Diary of his wife (2000)

The sensational film by Alexei Uchitel, in which the director decided to show the little-known details of Ivan Bunin’s personal life through the prism of the diaries of his wife Vera. The writer’s family was very unusual for that time – Bunin lived simultaneously with his wife and with his young mistress Galina. At the same time, all the participants in this triangle really suffered: Ivan Alekseevich – from a feeling of loneliness that did not leave him even surrounded by women, and Vera and Galina – from unspoken jealousy and resentment. Soon the writer has a new hobby – the opera singer Marga Kovtun, who brought even more confusion into the already complicated relationship. A melodrama for those who want to know more about Bunin’s private life, his last love and bitter experiences. By the way, in 2000 this film received the Grand Prix of the Kinotavr festival.
