After revealing the premiere date of the documentary “Racionais MC’s – Das Ruas de São Paulo pro Mundo” last week, Netflix released the first trailer of the production on social media this Monday (24), which will arrive on the streaming platform on the 16th. November.
The documentary will present unreleased scenes recorded in the over 30-year career of Racionais, one of the most popular and influential groups in the rap music scene. In addition, exclusive interviews with the quartet Mano Brown, KL Jay, Edi Rock and Ice Blue will be presented and shown to the public.
In the trailer released by Netflix, we can see the images of the shows performed by the authors of the hit Diário de um Detento and the impact that the group has brought to the suburbs of Sao Paulo and to Brazilian society in general. The documentary will also feature other previously unreleased scenes, highlighting the legacy the rappers have left for music in the country.
“The documentary tells the story of the legendary rap group Racionais MC’s, who transformed street poetry into a powerful movement in Brazil and around the world,” Netflix highlighted with the description of the plot.
“Racionais MC’s – Das Ruas de São Paulo pro Mundo” will be directed by director Juliana Vicente, who also signs as executive producer, together with Gustavo Maximiliano and Beatriiz Carvalho. Vicente is the founder of Preta Portê Filmes, which produced the documentary for Netflix.
“Racionais MC’s – From the Streets of São Paulo to the World” arrives on Netflix on November 16th. Before being released on the streaming platform, the documentary will be screened in a single presentation at the 46th Sao Paulo International Film Festival, which will take place on October 31 at the Cinemateca Brasileira.
