What does the paper Otto gives Rhaenyra mean?

Once Princess Rhaenys warns Rhaenyra and Daemon of usurping the throne in King’s Landing, the latter begins planning his war and response against Hightower.

However, Rhaenyra holds firmly to her father Viserys’ ideology of reconciling for the greater good and avoiding war altogether. This is when Otto Hightower arrives at Dragonstone to set the terms of surrender for the Blacks.

Daemon rejects the Greens’ proposal from the start and is ready to start the bloodshed, but Rhaenyra discusses the terms and her idea of not going to war is strengthened when Otto gives her a card from Queen Alicent.

This sheet is part of a storybook that appeared in the first episode of the series when Rhaenyra and Alicent were young and found themselves under a tree asking each other questions about the contents of the book and showing their great friendship.

Alicent sending this card means that she hopes there is still some friendship between them after their differences. With Rhaenyra’s response and look, it’s confirmed that she does care for Alicent, but subsequent events erase any possibility that the conflict was resolved peacefully.

Who is Vermithor, the dragon that Daemon sings to, and what does it mean for ‘House of the Dragon’?

The Blacks know that the civil war will not be decided by who has the most soldiers or followers, but by the strength of the dragons each faction commands.

Although Rhaenyra’s side has more, it is younger, smaller, and many have never fought in a war, unlike Aemon Targaryen’s giant and experienced Vhagar.

To get the upper hand on this front, Daemon lists all the dragons that exist in the Seven Realms that don’t yet have riders, among them huge old Vermithor.

The Daemon enters a cave in Dragonstone to search for this dragon that was last ridden by his grandfather King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and is the second largest in all of Westeros, behind only Vhagar.

The Daemon enters the cave singing in High Valyrian and tells the dragon to be calm and that he will soon have a new rider. In Dance with Dragons Vermithor plays an important role that we will definitely see in the second season.

Who dies at the end of “House of the Dragon”?

As usual in series based on the works of George RR Martin, no character is safe, regardless of whether they are audience favorites or the protagonists of the story.

And in the finale of the first season of ‘House of the Dragon’ there are several deaths that are essential to the other characters and to carry the plot to the events of Dance of the Dragon.

The first character to technically die was never born, when Rhaenyra learns of Viserys’ death and usurpation of the throne, she goes into early labor and gives birth to Visenya’s baby, but it is lifeless.

But Visenya isn’t the only son the Black Queen loses in this episode, as Lucerys is killed along with her dragon Arrax when she is sent to Storm’s End to seek out the House Baratheon alliance.

There the young prince meets Eamond’s uncle, and although bloodshed inside Boros Baratheon’s palace is averted, Eamond pursues Lukerys as she flies away with her dragon.

Although it seems that Emond only wanted to intimidate young Lukeris into seeing that neither he nor his family stand a chance against the Greens, the riders’ youth and inexperience causes them to lose control of their dragons.

So Vhagar disobeys Aemond and with a single bite tears Arrax apart along with his rider Lucerys. This means that the Greens are the first to bleed, and by murdering a son of Rhaenyra, the queen decides the war entirely.

When does ‘House of the Dragon’ season two premiere?

The first season of ‘House of the Dragon’ ends as Daemon breaks the news to Rhaenyra of Lucerys’ death at the hands of Aemond, and you can see her desire for revenge on the queen’s face.

So with nothing to stop them and the possibility of a peaceful resolution thrown out the window, both sides will head to war in season two, officially kicking off the events known as the Dance with Dragons.

“House of the Dragon” Season 2 does not yet have an estimated release date, but production and filming have already begun, so it is expected that it may arrive in late 2023 or early 2024.
