Horror movies are at their best. ‘Terrifier 2’ has become a hit that everyone is talking about and ‘Smile’ has grossed almost 100 million dollars (only in the US) as one of the best recent horror movies.

East “boom” Current began a few weeks ago with the “silent” triumph of ‘Barbarian’, which has added a collection of 40 million, after having been produced with a budget of 4.5. It is, perhaps, one of those films that very few have known about before its theatrical release, but also one that you cannot stop talking about after seeing it.

Of the three movies we’ve mentioned and already among the best scary Disney+ horror movies, ‘Barbarian’ is certainly the most original and the most difficult to describe. The grace of the film is in how it continually deceives the audience, making unexpected turns over and over again. It would still be a great horror movie if you knew what was going to happen, but that would spoil the fun.

The Plot Of ‘Barbarian’ Is A Nightmare Anyone Could Familiarize With. Tess (Georgina Campbell) travels to Detroit for a job interview. When she arrives at her Airbnb, she meets Keith (Bill SkarsgĂĄrd), who is living there after booking the apartment through another rental website.

Would you still stay the night? That is the dilemma that Tess has to solve, but having no other options and with the interview first thing in the morning, she decides to do it. Keith appears to be an absolute gentleman, offering her the room and saying that he will sleep on the couch. However, something seems slightly off about him…

Keith is just too nice and SkarsgĂĄrd’s casting choice is brilliant. Writer/director Zach Cregger knows that people will remember Pennywise and that audiences will assume that the actor is playing some weird guy. Keith may have his flaws, but isn’t he just a weird kid in an awkward situation?

As the first act of ‘Barbarian’ progresses, you won’t need to come to any conclusions about Keith. Quickly, Tess makes a sinister discovery in the basement and realizes that whether Keith is weird or not, he has worse things to fear.

What could be a worse threat? Is Keith really the bad guy? What does Justin Long do in all of this? You won’t get any response from us, and unawareness is exactly what you need to see the madness of ‘Barbarian’ and get into it.

Cregger gradually puts the pieces of the story together, building each aspect and engaging the audience at every turn.. Each element not only sheds more light on the story, it also changes it and makes it different from what you might think you’re seeing from the start, keeping you constantly on your toes.

It’s not just the brilliance of the narrative that makes ‘Barbarian’ a spectacular horror movie. also owns genuinely tense moments, often accompanied by some shocking images that will be difficult to forget. (So we don’t get it: you’ll never look at a bottle the same way again. Never again.)

For a movie that takes place primarily inside a house, it’s vibrantly shot, with the cinematographer, Zach Kuperstein, finding innovative ways to continually shoot the same spaces. As with the plot, Kuperstein’s camerawork plays into our idea of what a horror movie “is” and where the shocking moments will occur.

The trio of interpretations is excellent in equal parts, Georgina Campbell guides us through the darkness. Tess may make certain “typical” choices for movies in this genre, but she does so with justification and, most crucially, you want her to survive whatever horror is thrown at her.

She is mainly accompanied by Bill SkarsgĂĄrd, who successfully crosses the line between the sinister and the endearing; Justin Long, who brilliantly portrays a lousy guy; and a couple of other surprising interpretations, which cannot be explained without going into spoilers.

The reason that reaffirms how good ‘Barbarian’ is comes in the last act. After the horrors of him have been unveiled and he has been on edge for 90 minutes. Zach Cregger ends his movie on a surprisingly poignant note. This, added to everything else, changes your expectations of what “the end” of a horror story should be, and it does it perfectly.

You may not have heard of ‘Barbarian’ before it was announced, but by the end of the year, it will be all you can talk about. This is the best horror movie of the year.
