Midnite Movie Club will be the first “decentralized movie studio” based on blockchain technology
Matthew Lillardwhom we will all remember for his roles in ‘Scream’ and ‘Scooby-Doo’, has formed his own production company together with the director and screenwriter bill whirity and they are already preparing a vampire movie: ‘Let Them Die‘.
Midnite Movie Club will be the first “decentralized movie studio” based on blockchain technology and NFTsallowing fans to decide which projects the company will produce.
“NFT, blockchain and Web3 are the future of the Internet”, say the founders of the study. “In the years to come, this technology will revolutionize many aspects of our daily lives, and the film industry is no exception. Most people think of NFTs only as works of art, but it’s the underlying technology behind them that makes Midnite Movie Club possible. The MMC is a private community, like a country club or gym, and your NFT acts as your membership card. It’s your key to the kingdom, so to speak, and it’s how you cast your vote and help filmmakers develop their films.”
Using this system, viewers will be able to vote on which films get the green light and on creative decisions that the filmmakers will offer to the community during production. For example: deciding which actors to make offers to, choosing costumes, props or creature designs, choosing the design of movie posters, etc.
In addition to choosing which films the company will produce, the community will also have exclusive access to special features such as viewing audition tapes, photos and videos from the set, concept art and storyboards, and participating in Q&A and live online tours of the sets.
The first film of the new production company will be ‘Let Them Die‘, a vampire tape of which not many details are known, only that will star Lillard himself and that filming will begin this summer.
