The “John Wick” series will arrive in Brazil on Prime Video

“The Continental” series, a prelude to the “John Wick” action franchise, will arrive in Brazil via Prime Video. The Lionsgate Television production will premiere in the United States on Peacock.

Initially, the series was supposed to premiere in North America on Starz, but was eventually moved to Peacock, as it suited NBCUniversal streaming better. Outside of the United States, “The Continental” will premiere on Prime Video in all territories where Amazon streaming is present, with the exception of Israel and the countries of the Middle East, according to information from the Deadline.

The three-part miniseries “The Continental” explores the origin story and inner workings of the exclusive Hotel Continental, a hub of the John Wick universe that serves as a haven for assassins. The production is told from the perspective of the hotel director played by Ian McShane in the film franchise, a young Winston Scott played by Colin Woodell.

Over the course of the series, viewers will follow Winston through the New York underworld of the 1970s, where he will fight the demons of his past as he tries to take control of the iconic hotel, a meeting place for the world’s most dangerous criminals.

Woodell stars opposite Ayomide Adegun, who will play a young Charon, Peter Greene, who will play Uncle Charlie, Mel Gibson as Cormac, Ben Robson as Frankie, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Jessica Allain as Lou, Mishel Prada as KD and Nhung Kate as Yen. Keanu Reeves, who stars in the movies as John Wick, is not expected to appear in the prequel series.

“John Wick’s films have created one of the most immersive, detailed and fun universes we’ve seen on screen in the last decade,” said Chris Mansolillo, Prime Video’s director of content acquisition. “We are extremely proud to continue building this universe, giving viewers an insight into the origins of the infamous Hotel Continental and its incredible characters.”

Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are writers, showrunners and executive producers of “The Continental”. Other executive producers are Albert Hughes, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road Pictures, Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Marshall Persinger. Shawn Simmons is a writer and executive producer. Hughes conducts the first and third nights and Charlotte Brandstrom conducts the second night.

“The Continental” will be released in 2023.
