AlloCiné: What did you like about Axel Teixe’s character when you passed the tests for the role of Emanuel’s nephew in the film, it all starts here?
Thomas Dacosta : Axel is quite a difficult character because both are very lovable, have a second degree, have a great sense of humor and also a lot of repertoire. But he also opposes something darker, much more buried, especially in his relationship with his father and all the scenes that follow. From my point of view as an actor, I find the game very interesting.
Is the main challenge, such as Axel, who is self-confident, ultimately being to manage to make him a character who is not perceived as an arrogant society?
I really focused my game on energy and the second degree of character. To me it is precisely its aspects that predominate. Of course, it is true that he can have an arrogant side so much that he is sometimes self-confident. This is what makes his relationship with his uncle quite unique, as he is one of the few characters who can react so strongly to Teisser.
But, yes, I mean, I’m not going to fall into something overly arrogant. Because I get the impression that Axel is finally quite far from that. Self-confident, knows what he wants. And he just gives himself the means to get there. But it never happens at the expense of others. Loyalty and loyalty are important values to him.
Axel is your first TV role. How did you experience your first steps in this adventure where everything starts, which is a great car?
What’s good is that it all starts here, mostly with young actors, and it gives super exciting energy to the series and the filming. It’s cool to play with partners your age because we share a lot and real friendships are formed behind the team.
Then, of course, such a daily life is very interesting for a young actor like me because he is very developing. We shoot a lot, we have to be very efficient and very accurate from the very first shots.
We already love the Axel-Emanuel duo and the energy gained. And we feel the real chemistry between Benjamin Barroshe and you. Did it immediately coincide with you on the set?
Yes right now. But with virtually everyone. I was a little scared because for me it was a real leap into the unknown. And then I was very well received by the whole team and all the actors. And especially by Benjamin, it’s true, who sent me a message even before I got to the set. He was perfectly with me.
It took us some time to meet all the members of the Tessie family. We all went to eat together on the first day of my filming, so you feel good, you feel comfortable.
In episodes that aired on TF1 last week, Philip, Axel’s father and Emmanuel finally agreed to give him a chance and passed the entrance exam to the institute. How about what awaits your character here it all starts?
Axel is a character with big ambitions. He allows himself and the fact that he was released from his father and found himself with his uncle and aunt, this is not a plan B, this is not a choice. It is enhanced by a genuine desire and a genuine passion for cooking.
It is true that he has just received the confirmation of his uncle, who took part in the competition. So this reinforces Axel, who sees Emmanuel as really a mentor. This pushes him to work even harder and we will see that he will do his best to succeed in the competition at the beginning of the school year.
However, we imagine that he will soon face obstacles…
Yes, of course. He enters an institute where he has not entered like the others, passing a competition. He was placed, almost “set” by his uncle. And some students will not like it. Namely Ember (Claire Romney), as we shall see in the following episodes.

We feel a real parallel with the story of Kelly (Axel Dodie), which we followed last year with the desire to pass the competition at any cost. But the interesting thing is that unlike Kelly, who already had a very high level, Axel finally has everything to prove, he is expected to bend …
Completely. Sure, Kelly starts a little farther away (laughs).
And you, exactly, cook is your job in life too?
I think I have a worse culinary level than Axel (laughs). Though I love food, I like it very much, but at this level I do not have many techniques and strings on my bow.
Still on the intriguing side, Axel caught the eye of Jasmine (Zoe Severin), who decided to hold the institute’s first prom in order to get closer to her. What about your character? Is it also sensitive to Jasmine charm?
Axel gets along very well with Jasmine, that of course. But Jasmine is really bitten, she will do a lot to get closer to him. Bilateral? .I’m not sure. It could be something else for Axel …
At the prom, Axel addresses Salome (Aurel Pons). Are we going to witness the birth of a love triangle between Jasmine, Axel and Salome?
It is possible that we will continue to do so, yes. Either way, Axel and Salome will really share the moment with the ball. And this intrigue on Axel, Jasmine and Salome will continue in the coming weeks.

How did the filming of this devastating episode of the prom go?
It’s very different from what we normally get. It is no longer the same place as the Institute. And it was totally different. There were many night scenes, sometimes before 1 or 2 p.m.
And it was an opportunity to meet a lot of actors on the same set at the same time and it was very enjoyable. We are accustomed to shooting on three different sets every day, with different teams, and it is still quite rare for us all to shoot together. So we were able to share it all together.
There was too much. It was quite impressive. And there were a lot of important technical external elements to the “disaster” side of this episode, and that too was quite impressive to shoot.
If Axel passes the entrance exam, it seems he will be forced to stay here it all starts. Did you know from the beginning that it was long lasting?
Yes, I knew Axel was a recurring character and I did not join the show for several weeks. But the plots are written the way they go, so we really do not know what will happen in the coming months. The only thing I know is that I made an appointment for a while.
In parallel with the series, you released the single “Avion Mode”, the clip of which is available on YouTube. Ever wanted to make music?
I started at the conservatory with a trombone. So it has nothing to do with rap. I have been doing this for ten years. And I have been running since 2016. I have been taking him more seriously since last year.
In 2022 I was planning to leave a big place for rap because before I got here I was in theater school, here it all starts, I told myself I would have time to develop this music project. And a little changed (laughs).
But all the better because I’m really glad it all starts here. And I always try to keep this place of music, even if I have less time to do it at the moment. But I am preparing an EP that will be released in late 2022. And “Avion Mode” is the first title of this project.
“Avion Mode” is a track that especially talks about social media, addiction to approval, and by listening to it, we will definitely draw a parallel with what you live here, everything starts, which gives you strong exposure and popularity. Growing, on networks by the way …
Yes, you can imagine they did not want this parallel at all (laughs). But this is a topic that I am very interested in and very excited about. Relationships with social networks, how we manage it. Are we known or not.
When I wrote “Avion Mode”, I felt like it was a little beyond that, without the growing popularity at the time that I can know today to use your terms. This is a hyper-universal topic and everyone has their own point of view on this issue, personal experience of managing social networks.
