At 43, the actor confesses that it is now or never.
Luke Evans has spoken about his dreams of playing James Bond and has confessed that he thinks this will be the last time he is associated with the role. The 43-year-old actor, with an enviable physique, is one of the candidates to take over from Daniel Craig, who stopped playing the secret agent after his fifth film, No Time to Die. And while Luke admits the role is exciting, he also thinks that if he doesn’t get it now, he won’t get the chance again.
“It’s a wonderful role, but it’s not easy and whoever gets it will have some very big shoes to fill. But this is the only time I’ll ever be associated with him, because when the part comes back, I’ll be too old!”
Luke also revealed how nervous he was when he started shooting ‘Clash of the Titans’. Speaking to Red, the star recounted: “My feet weren’t touching the ground. I felt like a fish out of water. Nobody really prepared me what to expect, I just had to follow what everyone else was doing. I had to have a lot of will not walk out the door and say, “I’m sorry, I can’t do this. I don’t know what I’m doing.” He also confessed that he tried to pick up little tricks while working alongside Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.
Known for his impressive roles in The Hobbit, Beauty and the Beast, and Nine Perfect Strangers, Luke’s Bond confession comes a month after David Tennant revealed he was once in the running for the role. The former Doctor Who star, 51, said a friend of the 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson told him the news. Asked if he had ever been in the running for iconic movies, he said: “No, I never thought I would have until I recently worked with a director who had worked with the Broccolis, who said, ‘Yeah, you were. on the list that time’.” I asked him: ‘What time? And he told me ‘last time’. I guess he meant Daniel Craig, because before that I would have been a kid. I think it was a long list and I don’t think it was ever anywhere near the top, but apparently it was.”
