Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo has officially announced her departure from the project. The TV show is not closed, and the episodes will continue to be released as usual, however, already without Pompeo’s heroine Meredith Grey, who has fallen in love with the audience. Anatomy showrunner and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes hinted that we still have a chance to meet the heroine, which means that Pompeo could appear, for example, in flashbacks or as a secondary character. In the story, Meredith will move to Boston and get a job at a new clinic for the study of Alzheimer’s disease. The final episode featuring Ellen Pompeo will air on February 23 next year.
I am infinitely grateful for the love and support that you have given me throughout all 19 seasons! she wrote in an official statement. “None of this would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You made this trip truly fun and iconic! I madly love and appreciate you in return. You know the show must go on and I will definitely be back to visit.

Ellen Pompeo, who has not given a reason for leaving the project, is a 17-year veteran of the show with the team. She starred in 19 seasons and became the highest paid serial actress with a fee of 600 thousand dollars per episode, taking into account bonuses and percentages. On average, Pompeo managed to earn up to $ 20 million on the set of Anatomy per year.
Recall that the first series of “Grey’s Anatomy” was released on ABC on March 27, 2005, and the show instantly became a global TV hit.
