Chris Hemsworth has spoken candidly about his future as Thor, the god of thunder, hinting that his upcoming MCU appearance could be the “end” for his character.
Hemsworth said in an interview with Vanity Fair that he’s “completely open” to returning as Thor, but has his sights set on the character’s journey coming to an end if he picks up Mjolnir (Thor’s hammer) again.
“I feel like we should probably close the book if I did it again, you know what I mean?” said Hemsworth. “I feel like it probably justifies it. I feel like that would probably be the ending. But this is not based on anything anyone told me or any kind of plan.
Hemsworth continued, “You have this hero’s birth, a hero’s journey, then a hero’s death, and I don’t know — am I at that stage? Who knows?”
The Australian actor, who recently appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder, is one of the most prolific actors in the MCU. He first appeared in the 2011 film ‘Thor’, he has made nine appearances in the he series, in addition to the four ‘Avengers’ films.
“Love and Thunder” also featured the classic message after extra scenes: “Thor will be back.” It was a sign that surprised both Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi.
“I’m not kidding. I’ve seen it in movies and I was like, ‘Oh, really?’ Even Chris was like, ‘What?'” Waititi told Insider. “But of course he’ll be back. He’s the best character. I mean, I might be a little biased, but he’s the most fun to watch.” .
