“Black Adam” star Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, insists there’s no competition between his DC Universe film and Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After.”
The actor’s statement was released on his Twitter profile, where he replied to a post on the IGN portal, which indicated the viewing figures of “Black Panther 2”, making comparisons with “Black Adam”. The Rock has stated that, as much as he loves the competition, the young franchise that stars him still doesn’t compete with the already established brand of “Black Panther“.
In the post, Johnson joked about the impartiality of the post and joked that his franchise needs to grow. “What a neutral post,” The Rock joked on Twitter. “I love the competition, but IGN you are in business with us, there is no competition with Black Panther’s established global brand versus Black Adam and [a Sociedade da Justiça], which a year ago no one had heard. There’s no need to beat ourselves up, we’re children and we have to grow up.”
What a neutral post.
I like to compete, but @IGN you guys are in the business with us, there is no competition with the established global brand of Black Panther compared to Black Adam and the JSA that no one had even heard of a year ago. There’s no need to beat us up, we’re new kids and we have to grow up— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) November 20, 2022
About two weeks after its arrival in theaters, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After” amasses 546 million dollars at the global box office, which already places it in 8th place among films released in 2022. In turn, “Adam black has earned $366 million since its theatrical release at the end of October, which ranks it at number 12 for the year.
Although ‘Black Panther 2’ fell behind in the box office, ‘Black Adam’ is already regarded as a critical and box office success. The film stars Dwayne Johnson/The Rock as the title character, an anti-hero from the DC comics. The cast also includes Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge and Noah Centineo.
With the relative success of “Adão Negro”, the possibility of a sequel is already speculated. While the producers have already hinted that fans can look forward to a sequel, Warner Bros. Discovery has yet to greenlight a new production.
“Black Adam” and “Black Panther 2” are playing in Brazilian cinemas.
