Has the villain of season 2 of ‘Wednesday’ been revealed?

“Danger is on the way, there is no time to waste.”

    ‘Wednesday’ spoilers ahead!

The debut season of ‘Wednesday’ has kept viewers on their toes, with numerous script twists and unexpected situations, in this very particular adolescent story.

Even though season two hasn’t been announced yet., history gives rise to another batch being imminent. In fact, it is very likely that we have already met his antagonist.

If you’re wondering who this might be, we don’t blame you.. It’s easy for you to have missed it, distracted by Tyler Hyde (Hunter Doohan) ripping people’s guts out and Mrs. Thornhill dismembering toes and a host of other crazy things.

Many things were happening at the same time. So much so that, despite the fact that the potential villain of ‘Wednesday’ was not hiding in plain sight, he was moved to the side to make room for Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), who was tirelessly dedicated to trying to solve the problem of the monster of Jericho.

Even without taking this into account, there are still plenty of candidates for the role of Nevermore villain.

Mrs. Thornhill (Christina Ricci) may have been attacked by bees and taken a good beating from Wednesday’s boots, but as they say, no body, no crime… (no death). This possibly means that she’s still hanging around somewhere with Tyler.

We’re pretty sure he went on the run, in the end, during his transformation into Hyde.

There’s also the first ‘Wednesday’ stalker – but all of this is probably just a distraction from seeing the real villain working discreetly in the background.

We refer to a group known as ‘Morning Song’, headed by the mermaid Gabrielle (Gracy Goldman).

If that name doesn’t ring a bell, don’t worry, you’ll surely remember his daughter Bianca (Joy Sunday), Wednesday’s enemy-turned-friend, in Nevermore.

The two managed to find common ground after a rocky start, but old tensions could resurface now that the ‘Morning Song’ appear to have Bianca in check.

Why could this new alliance between Bianca and her mother’s “group” pose a threat? Well, it all has to do with power and hidden motives.

Like the mythological mermaids, those of ‘Wednesday’ are capable of manipulating others with their singing. By Bianca’s own admission, they can intentionally (sometimes unintentionally) control people’s emotions, something that led to the break between her and Xavier (Percy Hynes White) before the first episode.

We found this out during Bianca’s conversation with Wednesday. In it, she acknowledges that she is never sure if people’s feelings for her are true or if they are attracted to her as a mermaid of hers.

Later, the full effect of what the siren’s song can do comes out, when the school is attacked by Thornhill (aka Laurel, the main culprit behind the murders).

Bianca and her fellow mermaids remove their amulets containing their powers and order the students to leave campus. for your own safety. They have no choice but to obey because, you know, the song of the sirens…

It is this gift and her strength that her mother wants to use to grow her sect.

When Gabrielle shows up mid-season, Bianca isn’t expecting her. It is obvious from her expression that she had not anticipated the arrival of her mother (nor did she want her).

Later, we learn that Bianca had run away from home and used her powers to break into Nevermore, forcing the school to give her a place.

They barely explain to us why she was so desperate to escape her mother. What we do know is that she is linked to ‘Morning Song’, as well as her stepfather Gideon of hers, who seems to be linked to strange things.

It’s quite hard to believe Gabrielle when she states that ‘Morning Song’ is “a personal development movement, helping people take control of their lives“. Especially when Bianca made it clear (quickly) that they’re only interested in scamming people out of their money.

This manipulation tactic had worked so far, but A desperate Gabrielle reveals that her siren song is running low.. Recruitment numbers are low and people are starting to ask questions.

This was more or less “his problem”, until he threatened to expose the truth of how Bianca managed to get into Nevermore. (unless he came home to help with the family business). Bianca reluctantly agrees, not risking discovery. However, it may be too late: the influence of ‘Morning Song’ has already started to spread through Jericho.

Lucas (Iman Marson) is the first to fall into the siren’s clutches, when Gabrielle introduces him to the ‘Morning Song’ self-help app, to help him ‘get his life back on track’.

Bianca tries to warn her, but she’s probably not the only person Gabrielle has tried to recruit during her visit. It is also likely that her deceit is much more complex and deeper than the extortion she is subjecting him to.

Judging by Joy Sunday’s comments, the influence of ‘Morning Song’ is bound to spread.

I think the effect could be very, very strong.“, he commented in an interview with Digital Spy, when asked how dangerous they could become with Bianca at their side. He went on to say:

As we see, his mother is involved to the bottom. She is starting to spread the poison around the town Bianca is in, (very easily)“.

“Even though her mother’s siren song is waning – if Bianca were a part of it, she would be even more powerful. So, I believe that [Jericho] has a lot to fear when it comes to ‘Morning Song’“.

Their co-stars also agree that they could be an upcoming threat, when asked about season two predictions. Something new for ‘Wednesday’ to sink his teeth into.

They will touch more on that topic. It’s very interestingsaid Hynes White. Sunday chimed in to say:

Yes. It looks like a great enemy. A whole town – a community of people“.

Just imagining the chaos they would cause with that level of control is unsettling. Be careful Jericho, something scary is on its way…

All the episodes of ‘Wednesday’ are available in the Netflix series catalog.
