Harry and Meghan Netflix Documentary Wins Trailer; Appearance

The life and stories of the British royal family are always subject to many repercussions. In TV and film productions, another narrative is coming to Netflix and this time the characters will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in the documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had previously struck a deal with the streaming platform to develop productions involving the couple’s story. With that, Netflix released, this Thursday (1st), the first trailer of “Harry & Meghan”, which will tell more about the relationship of the dukes.

“Harry & Meghan” will be directed by director Liz Garbus, who usually works with documentaries. In 2015, the director produced the feature film “What Happened, Miss Simone?”, nominated for an Oscar 2016 in the Best Documentary category.

According to Variety, Garbus promises that “Harry & Meghan” will carry an intimate account of the couple’s courtship. Additionally, the production will have unprecedented access to the dukes’ turbulent years as British royalty.

Several romantic images of Harry and Meghan are shown in the trailer – none of the photos show the couple’s children, curiously. Then the director asks the prince: “Why did you want to make this documentary?” and he replies, “No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors.”

“I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” says Harry. “When the stakes are so high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” Meghan added.

In an earlier interview with Variety, the Duchess commented on the production of ‘Harry & Meghan’. “It’s nice to be able to entrust our story to an experienced director whose work I’ve admired for a long time,” she said.

“My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on ‘Suits’, it’s great to have so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their points of view. It was a lot of fun,” Meghan said.

Netflix hasn’t released a premiere date for “Harry & Meghan,” but has revealed that the documentary will be released “soon.” The trailer comes at an even more turbulent time for the British royal family, as member Lady Susan Hussey has resigned after being accused of racist comments at an event at Buckingham Palace.
