‘Avatar 2’: Early reactions call it a better “visual masterpiece” than the original

The sequel ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ hits theaters on December 16, but critics have already surrendered at their feet.

Did anyone doubt James Cameron? According to the first press reactions, ‘Avatar 2’, dubbed ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’, is a “visual masterpiece” that will revolutionize cinema… again. We can already count it among the best films of 2022, if we trust these first enthusiastic comments. The film was presented this week at a great premiere in London with the entire team present and a group of select guests who have been able to see Cameron’s new work, the late sequel to ‘Avatar’ (2009), for many one of the best film history of cinema. Or, at least, one of the highest grossing movies.

Of course, the premiere of this sequel, starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver and the new signing of Kate Winslet, must be framed in the tremendous success of its predecessor. It would be impossible to minimize the legacy of ‘Avatar’: the film made visual effects history by creating a whole new world, Pandora., loaded with nuances and a life of its own. Apparently, the return to this planet in 2022 offers an even richer and deeper experience on the planet, pushing the boundaries of what cinema can create with a group of actors dressed in strange costumes, a hangar in Hollywood and a brilliant special effects team. In this section, they should have no problem prevailing at the Oscars 2023.

With ‘Avatar 3’ and other sequels already in the works, ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ arrives to reinvigorate the love for Pandora and the Na’vi. It opens on December 16 in Spain, but before we can read the first reactions:

“Unsurprisingly, #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and stunning visuals. It suffers from a weak story and too many characters to juggle, but James Cameron pulls off an extraordinary final act packed with emotion and action. exciting”.

“Avatar: The Way of Water is a never-ending visual spectacle. It’s a better and more complex story than the first with solid emotion, but the characters could use a bit more growth. It’s definitely long, with incredible visuals and techniques that are the best in 3D”

“I See You #AvatarTheWayOfWater – If you think you’ve seen #Avatar, think again. The only thing that holds true from the original movie is that ‘I’ve never seen anything like it’ feeling. Better than the first? Easily. The world of 3D water and the creatures are so surreal it’s downright moving. There’s a great Titanic homage.”

“#AvatarTheWayOfWater is the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen. It’s an experience that needs to be seen on the big screen and in 3D. I loved it and can’t wait to see it again. It’s a masterpiece in terms of technical wizardry. Easily My favorite movie of the year.”

“#AvatarTheWayOfWater is pretty amazing. I had faith James Cameron would raise the bar with effects, but these images are mind blowing. One stunning frame after another. But what I learned the most is how technical feats always feel in service to the characters and the construction of the world.

“While #AvatarTheWayOfWater doesn’t really exceed expectations, Cameron’s stunning sequel delivers a heartwarming family drama. The stakes are higher. Likeable new characters take the lead. Prepare to cry over CGI whales and fall in love with the Sully kids. 3 Hours have never felt so short.”
