Amazon has teamed up with NBA basketball player Stephen Curry to produce a film of “ToeJam & Earl,” Sega’s mascot characters and famous in the 90s on the Mega Drive.
The information was disclosed by The Hollywood Reporter on Monday (5). Hotel Transylvania 4 writers Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo are working on the new feature film.
In video games, ToeJam & Earl debuted in 1991. The game tells the story of two alien rappers who crash land on Earth and must find the parts of their spaceship to return to their home planet.
The film will follow a similar theme to the game, with ToeJam and Earl traveling to Earth to learn about the origin of the musical beat that inspired their planet’s culture.
Landing on our planet, they find that it’s not a musical paradise, but it definitely has some chart-topping beats. They hope finding music will save their planet.
So far, Amazon and Unanimous Media – Curry’s producer – have not commented on the film.
