Searchlight Pictures has suspended production of the directorial debut of the also Aziz Ansari, ‘Being Mortal’. According to the publication Deadline, an inappropriate behavior complaint was filed against the star of the film last week, Bill Murray, and production stopped on Monday, April 18. Searchlight Pictures sent a letter to the film’s cast and crew on the evening of April 20 to inform them of the decision. “Late last week, we became aware of a complaint and immediately investigated itSearchlight wrote.After reviewing the circumstances, it has been decided that production cannot continue at this time.“.
The complaint did not involve director Aziz Ansari or seth roden, who is also the protagonist of the film. Filming for ‘Being Mortal’ began on March 28 with a planned release date of 2023. Searchlight representatives stated that they could not comment on the ongoing investigations.
The film ‘Being Mortal’ is based on the homonymous book written by Atul Gawande. It is a non-fiction text in which the author talks about the ways in which medicine cares for elderly people whose frailty leads them to need detailed care 24 hours a day.
Ansari, also a comedian and actor, was also the subject of a sexual harassment accusation, which led him to retire from the film industry for a while. This was to be his directorial debut. The complaint has no relation to anyone other than Murray himself.
