Gone are the days when watching series competing for major prizes was a problem for Brazilians. Streaming platforms have brought blockbuster American TV productions to Brazil, and at the Golden Globes 2023, 26 of the 30 series with award nominations are available here.
The 2023 Golden Globes had a great deal of streaming dominance in the TV categories. In all, 46 of the 65 nominations were for productions whose original broadcaster is a streaming platform. Netflix and HBO Max led the way with 14 nominations each, followed by Hulu with 10. This is where the first TV channel, FX, appears.
Even so, FX has a good chunk of its productions available in Brazil through Star+, as does Hulu itself. Other broadcasters also make their productions available on streaming platforms here. Only four Golden Globe-nominated series have yet to stream in Brazil.
Hilary Swank was nominated in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for the series Alaska: Looking for the news, by the American broadcaster ABC, not available in Brazilian streams. Furthermore, George and Tammyof Showtime, which made Jessica Chastain nominated in the category of Best Actress in a Miniseries, Anthology Series or TV Movie, has not yet arrived in Brazil.
Toby’s new lifefrom the FX hub on Hulu, earned a nomination for Claire Danes in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries, Anthology Series or TV Movie. The patient, also from FX on Hulu, enters the list of series unavailable in Brazil for a short time. With Domhnall Gleeson nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or TV Movie, the series will debut here on Star+ on December 21st.
All other 26 Golden Globe nominated series in TV categories are available on Brazilian streaming.
