The increase, initially expected for June of this year, varies from 10.72% to 11.73% and concerns the 18 state concessionaires
SOROCABA – The governor Rodrigo García (PSDB) has authorized a price increase of more than 10%. toll will come into effect from midnight of this Friday 10 on the highways of São Paulo. The new values are in the spreadsheets published in the official diary of the state this Wednesday 14. On June 30 of this year, the day before the increase foreseen in the contract went into effect, the governor, at the time a pre-candidate for re-election, had announced the freeze of tolls “to contain the unbridled rise in prices, especially of fuels”.
The increase varies from 10.72% to 11.73%, depending on the index set out in the concession contract, and concerns the 18 motorway concessionaires in San Paolo. Those who intend to take the road to travel on holiday or for the end of the year holidays should already include the most expensive toll in the cost calculation. The Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) reported that the readjustment aims to replace the inflationary losses that occurred in the 12-month period – between June 2021 and May 2022.
The increase concerns tolls administered by the concessionaires CCR Autoban, AB Colinas, Ecovias, Intervias, Renovias, CCR SPVias, Tebe, AB Triângulo do Sol, CCR ViaOeste, CART, Ecopistas, CCR RodoAnel, Rodovias do Tietê, Rota das Bandeiras, SPMar , ViaRondon, Tamoios and Entrevias.
With the readjustment, the tolls on the highways granted in the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, which have the most expensive rate, now cost R$ 33.80. The cheapest fares, on the Rodoanel Leste, are now R$ 3.30 one way.

After the governor announced a tariff freeze, the Associação Brasileira de Concessões Rodoviárias (ABCR) issued a statement in June expressing “serious concern about the adoption of the announced measure, at a critical time when businesses are still dealing with the economic effects of covid -19 and the significant increase in the price of inputs.”
On 10 July, the São Paulo State Audit Office (TCE) granted the state government a ten-day deadline to clarify the suspension of the adjustment and report on the reasons for the decision. The following month, the São Paulo government signed a contract with the concessionaires pledging to readjust tolls by December 16 (after the elections).
According to Artesp, the increase is expressly foreseen in the concession contracts. “The readjustment, to be applied from midnight on this Friday 16, was initially scheduled for July, but was postponed by the government of the state of São Paulo due to the delicate economic situation of the moment, with high inflation and unbridled price increases. , especially fuel prices,” he said in a statement.
