“It gave me a lot to work with.”
Sigourney Weaver has shared the particular way in which she prepared for her role in ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’.
The ‘Alien: The Eighth Passenger’ actress has joined the cast of the long-awaited sequel, which takes place almost a decade after the events of ‘Avatar’. In the new film, she plays Kiri, a teenage Na’vi, Jake’s adoptive daughter. (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana).
Weaver claimed that he went through a lot of preparation for the role. The first thing was finding Kiri’s voice, which included spending numerous hours in schools with students.
The actress spoke to Digital Spy and other media about his new character: “I love having the opportunity to play a real teenager. She is lucid and is learning.”
Weaver added that this also put him through a wide range of emotions: “It has been an honor. I also felt excited, encouraged, terrified…“
For the voice and movement of Kiri, Weaver began observing classes of teenagers around the same age as his character.so he could begin his approach to the young woman.
“Luckily I had plenty of time to prepare,” he went on to say, “I went to several classes at different institutes, there I was able to record their voices. There are many differences between adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15.”
This gave the actress a starting point for her character, for which she combined aspects of her own experience during adolescence.
He added: “Once I saw that I thought: ‘okay, I can let Kiri come out’. Whoever that is, combined with who I was at 14. It was kind of a mess.“
“It gave me a lot to work with, and by the time I got around to doing it, I really enjoyed leaving my shell behind and becoming that’runny‘ For a while.”
‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ opens in theaters on December 16. ‘Avatar’ is available at streaming on Disney+. ‘Avatar 3’ is scheduled to premiere on December 20, 2024.
