Kit Harington muses aloud about Jon Snow’s future in ‘Game of Thrones’

The actor did everything but confirm his long-rumored sequel.

The former student of Game of Thrones who knew nothing about his character’s future now seems to know a little more than he’s letting on. In his speech at the first official convention of Game of Thrones This past weekend, Kit Harington discussed the future of Jon Snow and how he feels years after the controversial series finale. In June, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Harington had met with HBO to discuss a possible sequel to Game of Thrones, but nothing had been officially announced… until now. Well more or less.

Although George R. R. Martin confirmed In a blog post last summer that Harington pitched the idea for a spin-off titled Snow, the actor has not yet spoken about any details of the possible continuation of the series. It may not have been the official announcement that fans were expecting at the convention. Game of Thronesbut Harington shared his thoughts on Jon Snow’s post-series finale mentality with a sheepish smile.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Harington commented, “I think if you asked Snow, she’d feel like she came off right.” Fans will remember that Jon Snow not only killed his aunt/lover Daenerys to save the kingdom from a mad queen, but also kept his royal heritage a secret from Westeros. “At the end of the series, when we find him in that cell, he’s getting ready to be beheaded and he wants it that way. He’s finished,” Harington explained. “The fact that he’s going to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse. He has to go back to that place with everything that’s happened and live his life thinking about how he killed Dany, live his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms.” arms, living his life thinking about how he hanged Olly, living his life thinking about all that trauma, and that… that’s interesting.”

“So, I think where we left off at the end of the series, there’s always that feeling of… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that told us that things are okay,” the actor continued. “But it’s not good”. Sure, this could all be pure Harington conjecture, but it’s coming from the very man he might have offered Snow to HBO in June. He also seemed to slip up when answering a question about the future of Ghost, Jon Snow’s direwolf. The actor replied, “I think Ghost has a place in…”, before realizing it and cutting his response short. “I think he, you know… I think… I don’t know where I’m going.” But, yes, we do think we know where he wants to go.

Until the official announcement, fans of the series still have a lot to see from the house of the dragon. Apparently, HBO is also considering other spin-offs, like a story about Princess Nymeria (Ten Thousand Ships), a series that follows the journey of a young Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint, in the house of the dragon), and an anthological series based on the collection of stories The Tales of Dunk and Eggby George RR Martin.
