With 7 podiums, the country occupies the 3rd position in the general classification
Italy won three medals this Thursday (15) at the World Championships in short course, in Melbourne, Australia.
The European country was present on the podium with Alessandro Miressi, who won a bronze in the 100m freestyle. The Italian swimmer was behind the Australian Kyle Chalmers and the Frenchman Maxime Grousset.
The second Italian medal on the third day of competition was a silver from Nicolò Martinenghi in the 100m breaststroke, after finishing the race behind only the North American Nic Fink. Briton Adam Peaty completed the podium.
Finally, Azzurra’s third success came thanks to the good performance of the selection in the men’s 4x50m freestyle relay.
In second place the quartet formed by Miressi, Leonardo Deplano, Thomas Ceccon and Paolo Conte Bonin, who lost the gold against Australia by just four cents.
With two golds, four silvers and one bronze, Italy is in third place in the competition’s medal table. The European country is behind only the United States (17) and Australia (15). 🇧🇷
