Sergio Pérez, Max Verstappen’s teammate, criticized the Dutchman’s decision not to give up a position in the São Paulo GP, when the Mexican was looking for second place in the world championship, and eventually lost to Charles Leclerc. For the Dutchman from Red Bull, drivers who accept the secondary role are more successful.
“It’s important that he accepted. Some pilots can’t do it and it happens completely wrong, so they don’t survive that long. I won’t name names, but you have to accept your role. You can’t live in a fairy tale,” he concluded.
