How to create a status post on WhatsApp?
Creating new status posts in WhatsApp should be done from the “Status” tab, in a button in the lower right corner. If it’s a text-only temporary post, you can tap the pencil icon shortcut, but if it’s an image, video, or GIF, you’ll need to tap the camera.
What is the character limit on WhatsApp status?
Temporary WhatsApp posts can be up to 700 characters or 10 lines long. When you try to exceed this limit, the application will block the user. Conversely, in photo, video or GIF publications, the maximum number of entries is higher (at least in the number of lines), but the readability of the content is not as good in very large texts.
As with Instagram, the text entered in the Status can be manipulated at will. Therefore, users can increase/reduce the size, change the position and orientation of the text and play with these possibilities. There are five font options available in WhatsApp, and the color can be chosen as desired from the palette displayed in the app.
In photo or video publications, the user can also add a caption. The text will appear at the bottom of the screen, not taking up space on the media.
WhatsApp status privacy
From the settings menu, the user can define who can see their status updates. Visibility can be set to:
- My contacts: only the contacts saved by the user can see;
- My contacts except: only the contacts saved by the user, except some (which must be chosen manually);
- Share only with…: Only selected contacts can see.
Once applied, the changes will take effect for subsequent publications, i.e. if you have previously published a post, it will still be under your previous preferences. Also, if “Read Receipt” (the blue checkmark) is disabled, you can’t see who has seen the status post.
Instagram stories and WhatsApp status
In many ways, WhatsApp Status resembles Instagram Stories. The first of the differences, of course, is the application: while WhatsApp posts are made through the messenger and can be seen by contacts, Instagram posts must be created by the social network and can be viewed by followers or anyone who passes through the profile .
There are several similarities between the tools: Status and Stories posts last for 24 hours, appear full screen, and can consist of text, images, video, or GIFs. In both there is support for stickers and stickers (although on Instagram this function is better developed).
Overall, the Instagram Stories feature is more robust than the messenger alternative. The social networking solution supports boomerangs, image and video filters, image layout, hands-free recording, and more.
