Avatar director says Matt Damon needs to “get over” rejecting role in film

James Cameron, director of avatars, insists that Matt Damon needs to move on for refusing to play the lead in the huge franchise that just won a sequel. In addition to the role, Damon received an offer to receive part of the profits from the film.

The actor was Cameron’s original choice to play Jake Sully, a role Sam Worthington landed after Matt Damon turned it down. The reason why Damon turned down the role avatars it was his commitment to Jason Bourne movies.

Matt Damon is probably right about it: avatars it ended up becoming the highest-grossing film in cinematic history, grossing $2.92 billion. Certainly 10% of the film’s profits would be a lot.

Now, in an interview with BBC Radio 1, Cameron spoke jokingly about these comments from Matt Damon. “He’s blaming himself for this,” said the director. β€œAnd I really think, you know, ‘Matt, you’re like one of the biggest movie stars in the world, forget it.’ But he had to do another Bourne movie that was on the runway and there was nothing we could do about it. So he had to regretfully refuse.

Despite the actor’s refusal, Cameron says he is open to having Matt Damon in one of the future sequels of avatarsπŸ‡§πŸ‡· β€œWe have to do this. We have to do this so that the world is in balance again. There’s just one caveat from the previous deal, according to Cameron: “He doesn’t get 10 percent.”

Avatar: The Way of Waterthe long-awaited sequel to the 2009 hit, is now in cinemas.
