The European Central Bank is expected to tighten monetary policy at a steady pace, bank member Peter Kazimir said on Tuesday, following remarks made the day before, arguing for a strong response in the next six months.
“The answer is a steady pace,” Kazimir said when asked about the potential size of rate hikes at a news conference by the Slovak central bank, which he is chairing.
“The question today isn’t really whether we should go into the restrictive range, i.e. whether we should go above 2%. The question is how far we should go and how long we should stay at higher levels.”
