Bad Robot starts its engines Ც Hand wheels film.
The JJ Abrams production line will feature a film based on the car-centric toy line from Mattel Films and Warner Bros.
The exact history of the project is unknown, but the description reads, “A powerful action movie will revive this beloved multi-generational franchise and showcase the world’s hottest, smoothest cars, monster trucks and motorcycles.”
The project will be led by Kevin McCain and Andrew Scannel Mattel Films, starring Peter Dodd at Warner Bros. For Pictures. Hannah Mingela and John Cohen will oversee the bad robot.
Mingella, president of cinematography at Bad Robot, said: “Before Hot Wheels became the global name it is today, Eliot Handler’s dream was to invent and build toy cars at home in a garage in Southern California. This is the fantasy, passion and risk-taking spirit that we want to capture in this film.”
Bad Robot has a common agreement with Warner Bros. with Discovery, which runs until 2024.
