Experts give tips for winning a temporary job at the beginning of the year and becoming effective
The year 2022 has been left behind and has brought many strong dates that favor temporary signings, such as Black Friday and the World Cup. According to the Brazilian Temporary Work Association, there were 1 million jobs in all of Brazil.
“We are seeing an increase in vacancies, especially in retail chains. We have several projects with a large number of vacancies underway,” said Guilherme Lopes, of HR Fool. “Anyone looking for a job market should seize the moment.”
The big question isn’t just how to land one of these temporary vacancies, but how to turn it into something permanent. HR specialists respond, giving advice on how to do well in the selection process and, subsequently, how to demonstrate good performance to stay employed.
Precautions in compiling the selection profile
A fully completed job profile on construction sites increases the chances of being invited to the selection process.
“It is important to devote time to this, paying attention, above all, to the information requested by whoever offers the vacancy, so that nothing remains uninformed,” says Márcio Monson, founder and CEO of Selectedrecruitment and selection platform.
Also, don’t forget the cover letter – it should show your experiences, goals achieved, projects you participated in.
“The application must be done with dedication, ie it is the opportunity for the candidate to demonstrate his interest in the vacancy and the moment to ‘sell his fish’. This way, it is also clearer for the recruiter to identify and understand the professional’s experiences,” says Márcio.
Don’t neglect your LinkedIn: keep it updated
Many people still wonder if LinkedIn is actually a showcase for job seekers or if it is used by recruiters. Experts are unanimous in saying yes. Therefore, the profile must be constantly updated, and not only during the application period for a vacancy.
“Having a profile with your presentation, showing the summary of your activities and aspirations, without a doubt, highlights the professional in the eyes of the recruiter,” says Márcio. “The clearer your experiences, the easier it is to be invited for an interview. Therefore, it is extremely important, in addition to the presentation, to highlight in their experiences the activities developed, the paths, the challenges overcome”.
Another tip that can’t go unnoticed on your LinkedIn profile: keywords.
“Many recruiters look for professionals by hunting on LinkedIn, so to be found the candidate needs to provide information on his work area, skills and competences, education, because, according to LinkedIn itself, ‘during a search on the platform, all these fields are analyzed by the algorithm to define who will appear in the results’”.
Get in touch through official company profiles
If you are looking for a temporary vacancy at the beginning of the year, it is interesting to follow the social networks of the recruitment and selection companies, or the professional sector of your interest.
“The way to apply for vacancies and recruit people has been updated. And most of the progress has come during the pandemic period, which has accelerated the automation of steps,” says Viviane Morcelli, Human Resources director at HR tone. “Now almost all applications are submitted electronically, where applicants register directly on employers’ pages.”
Special tips for interview time
From the moment you manage to schedule an interview, you need to be extra careful to be calm and punctual. Plus, showing interest in the company can make all the difference.
“Look for information about the business in the market, and when the recruiter opens up to answer the candidate’s questions, take the opportunity to ask your questions, showing interest in the company and the job,” guides Guilherme Lopes.
Keep an eye on your email
You must always be very alert to any recruiter guidelines, including how the company will contact you to provide feedback.
“Communications usually take place via email. This tip is important because, today, with automated processes, when the professional evolves from one stage to another, the candidate is immediately informed about the next steps, which can be an online or face-to-face interview, a new test or not even the news that it has been approved,” advises Márcio Monson.
Be proactive and always ask for feedback
Finally the time has come, everything worked out and you got the temporary vacancy. Now another step begins: dedicate yourself to hiring. There are decisive behaviors and attitudes, according to Márcio.
“For example, dedication, creativity in problem solving, posture in the business environment, adaptability and flexibility, initiative and organization, socializing and interacting with people from different areas are among the attributes taken into account,” he says.
And, of course, it is very important to always demonstrate interest in being hired.
“A good sign in this sense is to ask for feedback on what points you can develop to improve your performance, your deliveries,” explains Monson.
