Ferrari responds to the Italian’s letter after almost 40 years

David Donolato was invited to visit the Maranello plant

Italian David Donolato received a response from Ferrari almost 40 years after writing a letter to the founder of the car company, Enzo Ferrari.

Born in San Giacomo di Laives, Trentino-Alto Adige, the 44-year-old sent a telegram asking for original branded stickers to decorate a toy racing car that his father, Diego, had built for him.

Donolato, who was seven years old at the time, never received a return. However, the engineer discovered that the letter written in 1985 had been answered by Ferrari, but was lost in the mail.

The engineer, who currently lives in Verona, confirmed that he had received a letter from Ferrari inviting him to visit the company headquarters in Maranello. His father, who is 79, was also included in the invitation.

“The owners of the company have decided to make a promotional film, inviting three ‘former children’ to visit the factory and tell their stories. They chose the year 1985 and read more than two thousand letters, one by one”, said Donolato in an interview with the South Tyrolean newspaper.

The Italian was invited to spend three days in Maranello, which will have an unforgettable program. Donolato will stay in a luxury hotel, dine in a famous restaurant in the region, visit the factory and drive Ferraris. .
