Terrorism in the US Capitol is the subject of HBO Max documentaries

After the terrorist attacks on the three-power headquarters in Brasilia this Sunday (8), associations were made with the invasion of the US Capitol in January 2021 and with the growing public interest in learning more about this extraordinary event in the history of the US and around the world, HBO Max has released two documentaries that provide in-depth analysis of the invasion.

One of them is Four hours at the Capitol, by Emmy Award-winning director Dan Reed. The production was launched in 2021 and features images of the terrorist attack, unprecedented even for those who sat in front of the TV all day while the events unfolded. Such recordings include footage from cell phones, security cameras, and equipment attached to guards’ uniforms, as well as interviews with people present on the Capitol on the day of the attack.

Already The attack on the Capitol (or January 6th, American title of the production) premiered on Discovery + and HBO Max last week, the day before the event turned one year old. The production chronicling the political events that took place in Washington in 2021 was produced and directed by Jules Naudet and Gédéon Naudet.

The documentary film recounts the events of January 6, 2021, at the United States Capitol, after the result of the last US presidential election and the defeat of Republican Donald Trump by Democrat Joe Biden, current president of the United States.

During the day, a crowd of supporters of the then president gathered in the American capital to protest against the result of the 2020 presidential elections, precisely on the date on which the two American legislative chambers would have confirmed the victory of his opponent, Joe Biden. Told from the point of view of politicians and people present in Washington on that date, the Naudet brothers’ film shows the heartbreaking moment in which American democracy was threatened.

The HBO Max film features and analyzes Donald Trump’s speeches, as well as unedited testimony from those present and images of the crowds inside and outside the Capitol. The production recounts the invasion in detail, which lasted until the early hours of January 7, when the forces of order managed to regain control of the place, already quite looted.
