We got another taste of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” this Monday (9), when a new trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film arrived. It is the third solo adventure for Paul Rudd’s shape-shifting hero Scott Lang, the 31st MCU film overall, and the first part of Phase 5 of the MCU. The film will hit theaters on February 16.
This adventure will see the debut of new MCU villain Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), a multiversal villain whose power was unleashed during the Disney+ series, “Loki.” He offers Scott the gift of “time”, suggesting that he will use his abilities to help the hero regain the years he lost with his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton).
We also get a glimpse of the classic villain MODOK, whose comedic experiments have made his head grow in an extraordinary way. His name is an acronym for mechanized organism designed only to kill. It’s unclear if her origin or his name will be the same in the MCU, but it keeps the comedic aspect.
As shown in the previous trailer released in October, the film will take place when the adventurer Cassie sends a signal to the quantum realm. This turns out to be a terrible move for Cassie, Scott, her partner Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), with Hope’s scientist parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).
The previous MCU film, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which concluded Phase 4, hit theaters in November and on Disney+ on February 1.
