Botswana’s Ross Branch won stage ten of the 2023 Dakar Rally on motorcycles this Wednesday morning. In the quads, the Brazilian Marcelo Medeiros took his first victory in the current edition

Ross branchfrom herowon the 10th motorcycle special of Rally Dakar 2023 held this Wednesday morning (11). The stage had a shorter course, with just 114 kilometers of timed section. Botswana completed the race in 1h44min to triumph for the second time in the current edition of the competition, with a lead of just 21 seconds for the Frenchman Adrian Van Beverenfrom hondawho conducted much of the special.
Kevin Benavides, by KTM, completed in third position, with the 1h45min mark. With the result, the Argentine surpassed the American Skyler Howes and took the lead in the Dakar on motorbike. His teammate, the Austrian Matthias Walkercompleted in fourth position, with the Chilean Paul Quintanillaof Honda, closing the top-5.

Mason Klein, José Ignacio Cornejo Florimo, Franco Caimi, Daniel Nosiglia Jager and Daniel Sanders completed the top ten of the special disputed between Haradh and Shaybah.
Then class leader up until this quarter’s stage, Howes only completed in 15th position. Other title contenders also didn’t have a good day on the Saudi Arabian sand dunes. the Australian Toby Price was only 16th, while the Argentine Luciano Benavides it was 11.
Even with his second win in 2023, Branch remains only 19th overall in the bike standings.

Medeiros secures Brazilian victory in quads
the brazilian Marcello Medeirosfrom Taguatur, was the big winner of the tenth special stage of the 2023 Dakar Rally on quads. The five-time champion of Rally dos Sertões he even won three stages of the competition in 2022, when he finished in sixth place overall, but had not yet triumphed in the current edition. Medeiros completed the 114 kilometers of the special in 2h4min28s.
Manuel Andújar, of team 7240, finished in second place, with a time of 2h5min36s. The Chilean arrived behind the Argentine GiovanniEnrico to complete the podium, with a time of 2h7min23s. the Argentine Francesco Moreno Flores completed the South American quartet at the top of the tenth quad special.

Category leader, French Alexander Giroudof Yamaha, finished the stage in fifth place, losing less than two minutes of advantage over Moreno Flores. Laysvidas Kanciuswinner of the ninth special, he was in sixth place.
Pablo Copetti, Juraj Varga, Toni Vingut and Carlos Alejandro Verza rounded out the top ten in the dunes stage in Saudi Arabia. With the result, Giroud remains at the top, followed by Moreno Flores and Andújar. Even with the win, Medeiros remained in 11th place.
The Dakar Rally returns this Thursday (12) for its eleventh special stage, held between Shayba and the marathon Empty Quarter. There will be 423 kilometers of total displacement, with 274 kilometers of timed section.
