American pay channel SyFy has renewed “Chucky” for its third year of production.
“The cast and crew of ‘Chucky’ would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to Season 2, which we are pleased to announce has spurred the official green light for Season 3,” said the show creator Don Mancini in a statement. “That news made Chucky very happy. Thanks for that, because otherwise it would have been absolutely impossible to deal with him.”
The serial version of “Chucky” was developed by Mancini, who is also the creator of the character. He wrote the screenplay for the first “Children’s Toy” in 1988 and has since explored the franchise relentlessly: signed six sequels and directed three plastic monster feature films. In addition to writing the scripts and producing the episodes, Mancini also directed the inaugural chapter of the series.
Direct continuation of the films, the series highlights in its cast Jennifer Tilly, protagonist of “The bride of Chucky”, and recovers the classic dubbing of Chucky, created by the actor Brad Dourif, in counterpoint to the recent remake in which the doll is was voiced by Mark Hamill (the Luke Skywalker).
In Brazil, the series is available on the Star+ platform.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser, which you can watch below.
