From ‘Lightyear’ to ‘Win or Lose’, we review the complete official calendar of all the company’s upcoming releases for 2022 and 2023.
At first glance, Pixar’s schedule seems much less ambitious than those of upcoming movie releases. live action Disney or those of Star Wars or phase 4 of Marvel, or even already in Warner of the DC premieres, but that is because the flexo company doses and takes great care of each new release. However, in the qualitative field, the company is preparing several very important novelties for 2022.
On the one hand, we find Pixar’s first official spin-off. Not just a prequel like in ‘Toy Story’ or a prequel like in ‘Monsters University’, but a full-fledged derivative story: ‘Lightyear’. For another, Pixar’s first original series for Disney +: ‘Win or Lose’, a clear indication that the animated studio also wants to join the offer of series for the platform. Alongside that, of course, 2022 will also bring us an original Pixar movie and a spin-off series from their previous movies.

With a Hulk-like premise, Pixar’s latest release introduced us to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl who can’t help but turn into a giant red panda when she gets excited (and a pre-teen gets excited about everything). In reality, it is a fable about the changes of adolescence and the emotional problems that accompany them, habitual territory in the company of ‘Del Revés’. This time, however, the film focuses on the relationship between Mei Lee and her mother.
The film has been directed by Domee Shiwho already won an Oscar for Best Animated Short in 2018 with ‘Bao’, a portrait of a mother with empty nest syndrome (and stuffed rolls).

Lightyear

Buzz Lightyear becomes flesh and blood without leaving the territory of 3D animation. Lightyear will be the first big spin-off of Toy Story. Moving away from the world of toys, the film will deal with the human origins of the astronaut that inspired the doll. Angus McLane (‘Finding Dory’) directs the film and Chris Evans has given voice to the human Buzz Lightyear.
Release date: June 17, 2022, in theaters.

Cars on the Road – Series

The ‘Cars’ universe continues to expand with this series in which we will follow Lightning McQueen and Mater the Crane on a road trip across the United States. EITHERWen Wilson Y Larry the Cable Guy They will give voice to their characters respectively, but Pixar has ensured that they will be joined by new and fun companions, and others to be confirmed from previous films.

Win or Lose – Series

The directors Michael Yates Y Carrie Hobson Will Make Pixar’s First Original Animated Series for Disney+. Centered on a high school co-ed softball team preparing for the championship, the series will showcase one player’s perspective in each 20-minute episode.
