So far, there has been no official confirmation of Top Gun 3, either from the studio or from a producer such as Tom Cruise.
Second highest grossing of 2022 (behind only Avatar: The Way of Water), Top Gun: Maverick was the first film in the franchise since 1986. One of the actors in the sequel’s cast, glen powell (Jake “Hangman” Seresin) revealed the chances of the third film happening.
During participation on the red carpet of the Golden Globes 2023the artist was asked by the Variety if the public will ever see Top Gun 3 on the big screen – and if they can see him reprise the role of hangmanas the character has a certain relevance in the plot of maverick.
Even with the absolute success of the second film in the franchise, powell doesn’t seem very optimistic about a sequel. “[Essa resposta está] above my pay grade! It looks like it’s less vague than it was at one point, so we’ll see,” he said at the event.
