“But we will do something different. I think this needs to change a bit,” referring to some of the more problematic and formulaic attitudes and depictions of the original. He doesn’t specify what needs to be changed, but he seems to be enthusiastic about the idea of the new film.
The original starred Swayze as Sam Wheat, a banker in love with artist Molly Jensen (Moore). Shortly after Sam begins investigating workplace anomalies, he is killed in a seemingly random robbery. Fleeing the chance to move through the sky, he remains a spirit and discovers that not only was his murder of him accidental, but that Molly is in danger as well. He enlists fake psychic Oda Mae Brown (Goldberg), who can, in fact, see and hear him, to help him save Molly.
Magic Mike’s Last DanceFor its part, it will be released on February 10.
