The minister presented the first complaints against the vandals
Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes detained 354 people who participated in the coup acts in Brasilia on 8 January.
The vandals, who have left a trail of destruction in the federal buildings of Praça dos Três Poderes, will continue to be arrested so as not to disturb the investigation and ensure public order.
Another 220 people were released on bail with the application of precautionary measures, while 885 cases will have to be analyzed in the next few days.
The defendants are liable for the crimes of terrorist acts, including preparatory acts, conspiracy, violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, threats and incitement to commit a crime.
Moraes’ goal is to close until next Friday (20) the analysis of the custody reports of over 1,400 people arrested in the Brasilia revolt.
In a note, the minister informed that the actions of the vandals were “illicit and very serious”, as they used violence to try to “constrain and impede the exercise of constitutional powers”.
