After a few years of indecision, it looks like the ‘Tron’ franchise will finally get its third film.
The Hollywood Reporter has said that “Tron 3” will be at Disney, with the possibility that Joachim Rønning is the director. Who should also lead the project is Jared Leto, chosen to be the protagonist of the film, who has defended its production since 2017.
The project will be a direct sequel to the 2010 film, ‘Tron: Legacy’. The screenplay is by Jesse Wigutow and should be titled “Tron: Ares”. Leto needs no introduction, having had success in films like ‘Lord of Arms’, ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘WeCrashed’. In turn, Rønning’s greatest work was “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge”.
The original “Tron” was released in 1982 and was way ahead of its time. Way ahead of its time, as it turned out, but its box office success was only moderate.
