Streaming service HBO Max announced the end of the new series “Gossip Girl”, which became a reboot of the project of the same name in 2007. The platform is currently streaming its second season, which will be the show’s last. The release of the final series is expected on January 26.

While we’re not looking to move forward with the third season of Gossip Girl, we’re grateful for the impeccable style this show has brought to a new audience,” the platform said in a statement.

The series premiered in July 2021. After its debut, the new “Gossip Girl” collected a record number of views. Not long waiting, the creators announced the second season. In December 2022, the project returned to HBO Max with new episodes.

Gossip Girl takes place several years after the events of the original. The plot tells about the new generation of the golden youth of New York. The sequel is not related to the story of the heroes of the cult teen drama, which was broadcast on television until 2012. The cast of the project included Elizabeth Lyle, Tavi Gevinson, Whitney Peake, Eli Brown, Emily Alyn Lind, Jonathan Fernandez, Savannah Smith and Jason Gotay. As in the original show, Gossip Girl was voiced by Kristen Bell.

The original series about the life of the Manhattan elite immediately became one of the highest ratings.
